Has it ever occurred to you to be more observant about your fellow student, whenever there is a change in the physical appearance, mood, attitude or body language, were you kind to say or check if they are okay?

Do you take time to spot if things are different?  Do say something and of course, be careful to know the right moment to ask. Start by saying ‘hello’, then ask if they’re ok because you noticed something is different about them.

It’s okay to state what specifically you observed. As they talk, listen without judgment, ask how you can help, and what would be a solution for them. Follow up by checking on them later through calls, text messages, or visit to see if they need more help.

Try this:

How are you doing? I’ve noticed you don’t seem your usual self today.

Let them know you are caring by showing you noticed, don’t push it.

‘What can I do to help? I’ll be glad to just listen if you want to talk’.
