Feeling The Summer I Turned Pretty withdrawal? Here are 5 shows to fill the void!
Spent the summer waiting for the latest episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty? ‘Cause same! And for us dedicated viewers, September 17 was the best & worst day of our lives. Not only was it the last episode of this season, but it was the LAST season of the show ever!
No more Team Conrad, Team Jere, or Team Belly(or even Team Anti-Belly). No more Cousins beach, Taylor-Steven banter, Laurel-Susannah friendship goals. The show’s over.
But don’t you worry! I’ve got your back. If you’re feeling that major TSITP withdrawal, here are 5 shows to fill that void -
My Life with the Walter Boys
My Life with the Walter Boys is about Jackie Howard whose life is disrupted when tragedy hits her family & she has to leave New York to move in with her guardian & her big family of 9 boys on a ranch in Colorado.
Imagine this, a ranch instead of the beach & 9 brothers instead of 2, but the same mothers being best friends, & the same shy brother versus popular one arc. With the best elements of TSITP, but with a different twist, MLWTWB is all you can ever ask for from a teen romance show, especially if you’re looking to fill a TSITP- shaped void in your life.
Season 2 released last month & both seasons are available on Netflix.
Heartstopper
IMDb describes this show as “Charlie, a high-strung, openly gay overthinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, one day are made to sit together in class. Their friendship becomes something more for Charlie, but he does not believe he has a chance.”
This show is literally THE CUTEST teen show I have seen in a long time. Lately, a lot of shows surrounding the lives of teens have either delved into really dark & serious themes or have been sexualised to a heavy extent. Refreshingly, this show showcases the varied feelings of different queer teens in the most innocent & age-appropriate manner. So, you loved the wholesome romance elements in TSITP, Heartstopper is the show for you!
This show has released 2 seasons so far, and is currently available on Netflix.
XO Kitty
This show is part of the Jenny Han universe too. XO Kitty is a spinoff of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and explores the exciting new life of Kitty as she moves to Seoul, in search of her identity & true love.
If you loved TSITP & are also a K-drama fan, this show beautifully incorporates elements from both Hollywood rom-com & K-drama plots. What more could one ask for!
This show has released 2 seasons so far, and is currently available on Netflix.
p.s.- They just wrapped on Season 3, which means it might premiere soon in early 2026!
Never Have I Ever
In Netflix’s own words, Never Have I Ever can best be described as follows, “After a traumatic year, an Indian American teen just wants to spruce up her social status — but friends, family and feelings won't make it easy on her.”
Just like XO Kitty is heavily inspired by K-dramas, Never Have I Ever is heavily inspired by Bollywood. So, if you love Bollywood with international spice to it, this show has drama, it has sass, it has good food, it has friendship, and most importantly for our TSITP fans, it has a love triangle!
This show has a total of 4 seasons, all available on Netflix.
Dash & Lily
This Christmas limited series was all about a whirlwind romance between a hopelessly romantic Lily & cynically romantic Dash, who share their dreams, & desires in a notebook that they pass back & forth with the help of their favorite bookstore in New York City.
If your favorite part of TSITP was the slowly building romance between Belly & Conrad, especially around Christmas time(if you know, you know), this show is for you! While this show is a much shorter & limited series than any of the other ones on this list, I can personally vouch that this show is going to make you go ‘Aww’ more often than you can anticipate.
This show is available to stream on Netflix.
And that’s that! As much as you miss our favorite Cousins gang, you now have all these new & amazing shows to binge-watch & discuss with your friends at your next hangout!
Like Belly wisely said once, “The future is unclear, but it’s still mine.” So, what are you waiting for? Go pick the future that most appeals to you!🍿✨
